Our Methodology of Research, Writing and Editing

Depending on the niche, we rely on a number of parameters to determine the quality of the products and services.

Summary

One aspect that we always include in our reviews is ‘user reviews’ that we collect from online forums like Trustpilot, Reddit, Quora, and the like, depending on the topic. Sometimes, we also get to try the products ourselves but in any case we make sure to give you both positive and negative opinions so that you have the whole picture.

Other parameters that we might include but are not limited to are: ease of use, prices, shipping, ingredients, certifications, features, etc.

In addition, our informational content is well researched and supported by references so that you always know the source of the truth. Here are some other notes that are worth taking a note:

Sources

We base our content on first-hand experience whenever possible by trying out the products ourselves and giving you our unbiased opinion supported with pictures, statements and examples.

In case this is not possible, we base our content on thorough research from credible sources on the internet such as but not limited to official websites, forums (Reddit, Quora, Trustpilot), government websites, organizations, and other reputable publishers. Furthermore, we always reference the source that we adhered to, annotated with related numbers in this format “[number]” so you can easily find the reference in the section referred to in the articles as “References”.

In addition, if our content is based on conversation there are three points that stakeholders need to take into account:

On the Record

When engaging with our writers, editors, fact-checkers and experts discussions are typically considered “on the record” by default. This means anything shared during the conversation can be quoted, attributed, and included in their articles.

Corporate communications professionals and individuals speaking officially are expected to operate under this standard. If you wish to discuss something off the record, it must be explicitly stated, including your reasons, each time you deviate from the default.

On Background

When a conversation is “on background,” your comments are attributed in a more general manner, such as to a “company spokesperson,” without identifying you specifically as the source. If you are a corporate communications professional speaking in your official capacity, we will never attribute your remarks as being from “a source familiar” under any circumstances.

Going “on background” requires mutual agreement between you and Best Daily staff. The standard rules for such an arrangement apply: you may request to go on background, and we will either accept or decline. Without explicit acceptance, no agreement is in place.

Specifically:

  • Statements cannot automatically be considered “on background” without prior agreement.
  • You cannot decide how a statement should be attributed without discussing it first.
  • Phrases like “background, not for attribution” are not recognized; we treat them as “off the record.” Be clear about your intentions.

Remember, each request must be made and agreed upon for every instance.

Off the Record

“Off the record” means that we agree not to use any information from our conversation in reporting unless we obtain it independently from another source.

As with “on background,” an “off the record” discussion requires mutual agreement. If we do not accept the terms, the conversation is not treated as off the record.

We are generally hesitant to agree to off-the-record discussions with corporate communications professionals or individuals speaking in official roles, unless there is a clear and compelling reason to do so.

Corrections Policy

We are committed to delivering content that is fact-based, transparent, and thoroughly verified. However, we recognize that we’re all human, and mistakes can happen. So, as with everything that’s putting you at any risk whatsoever, we strongly encourage you to consult with an expert as we are not liable for any consequences that may occur from the content. In addition, if you spot an error, don’t hesitate to let us know—your feedback is invaluable, and we’ll correct it promptly and respectfully.
